it's been a long day

Friday: As usual, I slept past my alarm, so when I woke up at seven I began scrambling around to make sure I had everything. We had a Minimum Day and let out early. I went to go hang out with Ryan and Adriana, but none of us had still come up with an activity, so we went to Half-Price, because that's what all the cool cats do. Adri found me a plushy copy of Alice in Wonderland. =D It's pretty. Then we walked around, and, at last, cleverly observed that we weren't doing anything. So Ryan dropped Adriana off at Danielle's and me at Danita's, where Rachel and Danita were finishing up the cake. 'Twas yummy. I stuck sixteen crayons into the frosting of the sea. Nandita showed up and we went to go surprise Arish with my textbooks. He was surprised, but we failed to plan out his time slot because he was supposed to go to a dinner thing with rich and famous people earlier than we had thought. However, everything turned out okay because it turned out he could come with us. So we went to TGIF's to eat a slightly early dinner, and we were treated to a balloon-guy. He was going to give Arish a birthday hat, but we requested a fish instead, and he made the coolest fish-on-a-reel. Ever.

Anyway. After dinner everyone went to go see The Corpse Bride. I cut out there and went to Open Gym in my jeans, and at about 8:30 Bianca took me to The Rock. I saw Mr. Chiu, but I didn't recognize him; I thought he was some kid I hadn't met before until I heard someone call his name. I didn't say much in small group because they kept asking questions that didn't apply to me. Bio took me home and I fell asleep very quickly, so that I could wake up for...

Saturday: HERS Breast Cancer Walk. 5:30 AM. I got up. Yes, I'm shocked, as well. Now why couldn't I do that on a regular school day? Rawr. Well, anyway...I did successfully get up and get ready in time to be at Coyote early, but...I had to wait for my mom. She wanted me to wait until there was more light in the sky. Which was all fine and dandy because my shift didn't actually start until 7. Being the idiot that I am, I took the lady's advice from the previous week and decided that it would be unwise to bring a sweatshirt. I did wear a jacket, but it was still Fucking Freezing up until Vicky, my lady in shining armour, told me that she had an extra sweatshirt in her backpack. I was assigned for Footprints, but we had some time before we were really needed, so I ate and looked for places that needed help. I got to see Amanda! =] Jen and I started to wander around and we got pulled over to a table that had a gazillion water bottles set up. Our task? Tell people that they couldn't have the water. Whee. Some people were very understanding about it. Others were like.."what?" Gah. Then Jen had to leave and it was even tougher to tell them that they couldn't have it until after the trail, and some of them weren't going on the trail. They did some warm-ups, which looked very peaceful. Eventually the runners started off on their 5k, then the walkers. While we were waiting for them, the female volunteers went to go get their faces painted. I felt sorry for the lady because she was taking a line of requests. I was the last one to go, because Angeline kept chanting, "Peer pressure! Peer pressure!" I confess, I submitted without much of a fight, mostly out of curiousity to see what she would paint if given the choice herself. She asked me what I wanted and I told her to surprise me. So, after some discussion, I ended up with a beetle on my face.

As people started getting back, we handed them the water bottles that I had earlier refused them. Then we walked around a little and signed the yearly petition to preserve Coyote Hills. At one point, Minh and Vicky were playing a game involving a dare. It resulted in the two of them walking out to the middle of the meadow to make grass angels. They went between the stage and the tables where everyone was currently watching. I nearly peed in my pants because I was laughing so hard. (You can't really tell that they're making grass angels in that pic, but the point is, I have a link.) I stayed for Breakdown, which ended earlier than expected, and was quite messy because more than one trash bag ripped. My mom and sister picked me up and we went somewhere, and then I went to Open Gym, tired and sleepy and overall uneager to play. Not that I ever feel up for badminton anymore, anyway. I spent most of the time watching the cracks between the bleachers. It was rather fascinating. I shall take a picture next time and stick it here and then edit it so that I could pretend that it's been linked here all along.

Anyway. I went home to change and then go to IHOP's, where we successfully surprised Justin. I was feeling extremely indecisive about ordering, so I finally decided not to order, which worked well when I realized that I wasn't actually hungry. But people began to force food onto us anyway; Jen Yee and I started splitting everything that Jen Sue and Jason gave us, including pieces of lettuce. Later on, we artfully split up the remaining cake into boxes. I don't think the IHOP people liked us. Then we went to Century, where I argued with Kevin and we bumped into Dan, and then again when we went inside the theatre. We watched The Corpse Bride, which was a good movie, but it was not so much terrific as it was fun. Then Justin opened presents and, as he put it, all the "girls" went home.

Sunday: I decided to save both gasoline and 85 cents by going go the Car Wash early, because I hadn't touched my homework all weekend. So I got to AHS a little after 10, figuring I have about an hour to myself to get my homework done. Within minutes, James arrives, much too early for his own good. I helped him unload and we began to set up as people trickled in, and then they stopped trickling after about three more people. That was the full body staff. Okay. Then we had our first customer, a little earlier than the 11 o' clock that we were supposed to start, but we were ready so we washed it, and after that, the cars were non-stop for the next three hours. You'd think people might have better things to do on Sunday mornings than to go and get their cars washed, but nooo. A few more people arrived. We sent Kevin to go get our pizza, and while we were eating during the first lull in cars, two more showed up. James let us eat, though. Then Kevin gave me a ride to work. Tyler dropped by and I saw Tiana drive past. She looked at me but she didn't stop to say hi, that bitch. I'm going to give her a piece of me tomorrow. Not really, but it sure is a terrifying thought, isn't it? Yes, puts us all on the edge of our seats.

I think I got burned today. I hereby vow to make Sunblock more than just an acquaintance.
